Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American-British musician and sitarist. She is also the very first and youngest female to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of the Indian sitar. She is the student of Ravi Shankar, and the daughter. She was born London in 1982. During during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. In Encinitas California in 1999, she was awarded the high-school degree. Her career as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her youth. She is often seen performing together with her dad, and has performed with him for many years. She made Anourag her first solo album in 1998. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She's performed in all major venues around the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't restricted to just music. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which pays special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she is expected to do many great things in the coming years. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her childhood between London and Delhi. Then she moved to California and went to high school. From the age of nine she started studying music with her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka, who accompanied her father during his world tour, gained a remarkable quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she played in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. She was the first woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament as recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability within performing in the Asian Arts.
